The Qiupu River originates in the deep mountainous regions of southern Anhui (with forest coverage reaching 87%) within Shitai County. The river water is as clear as autumn, and the landscapes on both banks are picturesque. The famous Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai visited the Qiupu River numerous times, leaving behind his widely celebrated “Seventeen Songs of Qiupu,” such as “The pheasant, shy of the green water, dares not admire its own plumage” and “A thousand photinia trees, ten thousand ligustrum groves,” which vividly depict the beauty of the Qiupu River. The Baizhangya Scenic Area combines green mountains, clear waters, peculiar rocks, cascading waterfalls, and serene valleys. The canyon stretches 3 kilometers in length, featuring over 30 waterfalls and countless crystal-clear pools. It is flanked by pristine forests, offering an outstanding ecological environment. In May 2003, traces of the South China tiger were unexpectedly discovered here.

At the bottom of the valley, the Baizhangya Waterfall stands about 100 meters high and 20 meters wide, with a perennial flow that is truly remarkable. Introduction to the Baizhangya Waterfall Cluster & Rafting Adventure: The 15-kilometer-long rafting route passes through 14 thrilling rapids, with jagged rocks in diverse shapes. Riding a rubber raft allows visitors to frolic in the currents and enjoy an exciting ride. Upon entering the scenic area, guests can try their hand at pushing stone mills and stepping on water wheels along the riverbank, savor Qiupu fishermen’s bamboo-tube rice at the riverside restaurant, have a barbecue on the beach, play in the water and catch fish in the river bends, or even go hunting with a bow in the ancient willow woods—making it a perfect destination for rafting and leisure. The Qiupu River rafting section is especially distinctive: with ancient trees lining both shores, the river features rapid currents and perilous shoals, bringing to life scenes described by Li Bai such as “Waterwheel Ridge,” “Ostrich Bay,” and “Fish Weir Dam.” Visitors can drift along on bamboo rafts, follow in the poetic footsteps of the legendary poet, and immerse themselves in the charm of Tang Dynasty poetry.
