The environment within the Muyuan Mountain scenic area is of high quality, featuring an intact ecosystem, magnificent landscapes, and beautiful scenery. Ancient people described this place as: “The Buddha’s halo of Muyuan is a wonder under heaven; at the foot of the mountain lies a fine dwelling site, with lions and elephants guarding the water’s mouth, while the eastward river flows west.” In recent years, many unique natural landscapes have drawn significant public attention, especially the region’s profound regional culture and rich variety of folk legends, which add an air of mystery to the area.

Muyuan Mountain Forest Park preserves rare forest vegetation communities seldom seen in Anhui, such as white azalea, sweet oak, cyclobalanopsis glauca, bitter oak, Machilus thunbergii, Quercus myrsinifolia, and cyclobalanopsis gracilis. It boasts abundant flora and fauna, including 18 species of nationally protected wild plants and 29 species of nationally protected wild animals. Based on its distinctive surface landforms, the Muyuan Mountain scenic area is divided into several major activity sections: hiking and fitness tours, fishing and leisure tours, Muyuan opera appreciation tours, Gouting Neolithic cultural site exploration tours, heritage investigations of ancient Huizhou roads, ancient bridges, and ancient ferry crossings, wildlife and plant landscape tours, mysterious landform (grand waterfalls and great rift valleys) exploration tours, waterfall and spring viewing tours, hidden pools and secluded valley discovery tours, unique peaks and rocks sightseeing tours, beautiful rivers and lakes water experience tours, forest ecology tours, environmental education tours, farmhouse experience tours, and camping and barbecue tours.
