Haizi’s Former Residence — Located in Chawan Village, Gauhe Town, it displays photos from Haizi’s life and the personal belongings he used. Haizi was a native of Chawan and is regarded as a representative of contemporary academic new poetry, known as the “Poet of the Wheat Fields” and the “Hero of Poetry.”

Haizi (1964–1989), originally named Zha Haisheng, was born in March 1964 in Chawan Village, Gauhe Town, Huaining County. At the age of 15, he was admitted to the Law Department of Peking University, where he began writing poetry. In 1983, after graduating from Peking University, he was assigned to work at the Philosophy Teaching and Research Section of China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing. On March 26, 1989, he committed suicide by lying on the train tracks at Shanhaiguan. Throughout his short life, he maintained a pure heart. Chawan Village: Our village is located 2.5 kilometers west of the new county seat, comprising 10 natural villages and 20 villager groups. The registered population is over 1,700. The Shanghai–Chengdu Expressway runs through the village. The village has 1,830 mu of farmland, 500 mu of water surface, and 2,500 mu of forested hills.

The village Party branch has a total of 37 Party members, including 7 female members.
