Lion Forest Bridge

Lion Forest Bridge spans the Haihe River, connecting the Ancient Culture Street scenic area with the Wanghailou district, and is an iconic bridge along the Haihe.

The lions on the bridge are all uniquely shaped, lively, and come in black and white—extremely adorable.

Lion Forest Bridge was one of the first road bridges in China to use prestressed concrete cantilever technology, featuring a variety of lifelike lions. The bridge is 96.6 meters long, divided into spans of 24+45+24 (m), and consists of a single cantilever beam and 8-meter-long suspended beams; the bridge is 2×3+18 (m) wide. In 1994, new bridges were built on both the upstream and downstream sides of the old bridge, each 9.3 meters wide, with a three-span variable-section prestressed concrete box continuous girder structure spanning 25.2m+45m+25.2m. In August 2003, the Urban Construction Group successfully lifted the entire bridge by 1.271 meters, resulting in the Lion Forest Bridge as it stands today.
