The former site of the State-Owned Tianjin Wireless Factory is located at No. 185 Xinda Road, Hebei District, Tianjin, dating back to 1946.

After the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Nationalist Government relocated the Chongqing branch of the then Central Radio Corporation to Tianjin, merging it with several wireless factories established in Tianjin during the Japanese puppet regime. This formed the Tianjin Branch of the Central Radio Equipment Company, which introduced production lines from the United States. From that point on, Tianjin officially became the national manufacturing center for radio components. “The ‘RCA’ and ‘Philco’ brands produced by this factory were already very advanced at the time, and its former site is located on Xinda Road in Hebei District.”

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Tianjin Branch of the Central Radio Equipment Company was renamed the State-Owned Tianjin Wireless Factory, becoming the earliest state-owned radio enterprise in Tianjin. Later, it became widely known to local residents as the “712 Factory” and produced the “Beijing Brand TV,” hailed as the “First Television Screen in China.” Subsequently, through public-private partnerships, several privately-owned radio companies in Tianjin—including Qiangsheng Wireless Factory, the Third Production Cooperative, and the Telecommunications Equipment Factory—were merged and restructured into the Bohai Wireless Factory and the Great Wall Wireless Factory. From then on, for a long period, the manufacturing standards of Tianjin’s major radio factories ranked among the top in the nation, even reaching world-leading levels at one point.

On January 5, 2013, the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government designated it as part of the Fourth Batch of Cultural Relic Protection Units in Tianjin.
