Beian Bridge

Beian Bridge was originally built in 1973. The bridge has three spans, with a total span of 93 meters and a single span of 24.8 meters. After renovation, the original bridge was elevated by 1.5 meters, widened by 9 meters on each side, and 4-meter-long waterfront platforms were added on both sides of the original abutments. The renovated Beian Bridge showcases a classical architectural style, with an elegant and noble design that is gracefully distinctive. The bridgehead sculptures are designed in a Western classical style while incorporating traditional Chinese elements — the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise symbolize peace in the four cardinal directions. The bridge pier statues feature bronze frontal decorations of coiled dragons, while the bases of the bridge railing pillars are adorned with four musically posed female figures shining in gold, with noble and elegant designs. Each holds a different musical instrument: pipa, sheng, and xiao. The pedestrian walkway and non-motorized vehicle path are paved with granite, complemented by vase-shaped stone railings. The renovated Beian Bridge is a perfect blend of classical and modern aesthetics, and with its unique style, it has become another highlight along the Haihe River.
