Former Residence of Lu Xiefu

The former residence of Lu Xiefu is a cultural relic protection unit of Tianjin.

The former residence of Lu Xiefu is located at No. 403 Shengli Road. Features: An Italian-style building, primarily two stories with parts three stories high, including a basement. It is a European classical-style structure with a simple and clear design.

The house on Shengli Road originally had the address No. 19 Beian Road. Lu Xiefu’s fifth younger brother, Lu Hewan, said that the actual owner of the house was their father, Lu Jinggui. Their eldest brother, Lu Xiefu, did not live in this small building for very long. If one were to calculate the exact duration, “he lived in that small building for a total of just over a year.” After moving to the former Italian Concession with his father in 1931, Lu Xiefu studied for a year in the mechanical and electrical preparatory course at the Hebei Industrial College in Tianjin, and from there he was admitted to the Physics Department of Yenching University. It was from this small building that a graceful young man ultimately grew into a world-shocking great physicist.

Lu Xiefu (June 7, 1914 – February 13, 1997), born in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. Nuclear physicist. Elected as an academician (member) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1980. Joined the Jiusan Society in 1953. Served as a member of the 6th, 7th, and 8th Central Committees of the Jiusan Society.

Lu Xiefu was born into an intellectual family. His ancestral home was in Laizhou City, Shandong Province.
