Nankai District Martyrs' Cemetery

Nankai District Martyrs' Cemetery is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

Introduction Located at No. 118, Xiyingmenwai Street (Martyrs' Road), Nankai District. Built in February 1949 and reconstructed in 1967, it covers an area of 0.76 hectares. It is the burial site of 2,024 martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Battle of Tianjin, including 428 from the 112th Division of the 38th Army. The cemetery features a memorial monument approximately 14 meters high. The front of the monument bears the inscription “Monument to the Martyrs of the 38th Army of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in the Battle of Tianjin, Established February 1949,” while the back reads “The revolutionary martyrs shed blood on both banks of the Haihe River; their spirit lives on and their deeds remain in the hearts of the people,” and “Reconstructed March 1967.” There is also an exhibition room within the cemetery covering around 200 square meters, dedicated to the deeds of the 38th Army during the Battle of Tianjin.
