Tianjin Children's Palace
Tianjin Children's Palace is a patriotic education base.
Established in 1956 and located at No. 94 Dongma Road, Nankai District, Tianjin Children's Palace is among the first comprehensive extracurricular education institutions in China. Over the past 50-plus years, it has played a leading role as a municipal-level extracurricular education provider. Serving children across the city, it guides district and county children's palaces and primary and secondary schools in organizing diverse educational activities. It offers practical learning environments that foster well-rounded development in children, emphasizes quality-oriented education, and strengthens ideological and moral education for minors.
The Children's Palace has consistently adhered to the principle of "serving all children, serving schools, and serving the Young Pioneers." In collaboration with other district and county children's palaces, it conducts a wide variety of cultural and educational activities for children, including those related to ideology, morality, culture and arts, science and technology, and sports. Traditional events such as Learn from Lei Feng campaigns are held annually, promoting their normalization and voluntary participation. A series of new programs have been introduced, including the “Stars of Self-Improvement,” “Innovation Thinking Competition,” and “My Dreamy Haihe River” Children’s Art Competition. These events continue to evolve with the times and have grown into influential brand activities for children, with hundreds of thousands of participants in various educational and recreational programs each year.
As a patriotic education base, Tianjin Children's Palace insists on opening its facilities free of charge during public holidays, traditional festivals, and important memorial days. It organizes various activities such as commemorating martyrs and honoring great figures, guiding children to carry forward revolutionary traditions and strengthen their love for the country. On holidays like Mother’s Day, Labor Day, and Double Ninth Festival, events such as the “Mom, I Love You” Gratitude Campaign for Children and the “Chinese Dream, My Dream – Achieving Dreams Through Labor” thematic activities are held to promote national spirit.
The Children's Palace emphasizes integrating socialist core values into artistic practices to elevate children's emotional experiences. By holding large-scale children’s art performances such as “Dreams Lead the Future,” it advocates and promotes mainstream values, using the language of art to guide children in setting lofty aspirations. Through competitions like the “I Love Bohai, I Love My Home” Children’s Creative Painting Competition, “Beyond Dreams, Achieve the Future” Children’s Painting and Sketching Competition, and Spring Festival Couplet Calligraphy Competition, children express their love for family through artistic expression.
Tianjin Children's Palace is recognized as a National Advanced Collective in Extracurricular Education, a National Advanced Youth Palace, and an Advanced Unit in Municipal Ideological and Moral Education for Minors. In 1997, it was designated by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government as a Tianjin Patriotic Education Base.
