Located in Tianjin’s Ancient Culture Street, it is the city’s first museum dedicated to showcasing traditional Chinese footwear culture. It was established by Tianjin Laomeihua Shoe Store. Covering an area of over 800 square meters, the museum gathers and preserves top-tier domestic resources related to footwear culture.

The Footwear Museum presents the five-thousand-year history of Chinese footwear culture in chronological order, reflecting the uniqueness and continuity of footwear material culture throughout various historical periods. The exhibition includes seven sections: the history of footwear development, footwear folklore, folk footwear, lotus shoes (three-inch golden lotuses), special exhibitions of premium items, shoemaking techniques, and scene restorations. It features over 60 thematic displays related to footwear, with more than a thousand footwear-related exhibits, showcasing shoes from ancient times, the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, the Warring States period, the Qin and Han Dynasties, the Three Kingdoms era, the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing Dynasties, the Republican era, and the period after the founding of New China. The collection encompasses over a thousand types of shoes, including thin grass-root shoes, boat-shaped shoes, layered-bottom shoes, and cloud-head silk-faced wooden-soled shoes, featuring both ancient artifacts and later reproductions. The inner walls of the display cabinets provide detailed textual introductions about the origins, uses, and folklore of various types of footwear, offering visitors a clear overview. For the convenience of foreign visitors, the descriptions are provided in both Chinese and English. The museum also features a live performance area.
