Shuangxi Bamboo Sea

Located within the Shuangxi Drifting Scenic Area. Pale bamboo is an excellent dual-purpose species for both shoots and timber. According to survey data from 1987, Yuhang District had 9,795 acres of pale bamboo, with the Shuangxi area accounting for over 60% of the district’s total. The scenic area contains 3,000 acres of pale bamboo forests, mainly distributed along the stream banks, and serves as a key landscape feature of the Shuangxi Drifting attraction. Moreover, pale bamboo is useful for crafting agricultural tools, daily utensils, and a variety of bamboo woven handicrafts. Its leaves, which are cool in nature, help reduce swelling and improve eyesight and can be used medicinally. It grows best in low hilly areas or gentle slopes under 500 meters elevation, or on sandy dry land along streams. The average annual yield is 250 to 750 kilograms of bamboo shoots and over 500 kilograms of bamboo timber per acre. “Shuangxi Dried Bamboo Shoots” are a local specialty, and “Bamboo Leaf Chicken” is a popular dish in the Shuangxi area.
