Showcasing Yuhang’s Homestay Charm and Highlighting the Yushang Countryside Brand
Previously, when people went traveling to enjoy mountains and rivers, their first choice was to stay in hotels. But now, more and more people prefer homestays. Since 2015, the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Yuhang District, Hangzhou City, has accelerated the layout of the homestay industry and strengthened support for the homestay (farmhouse inn) sector. Currently, Yuhang is home to over 450 homestays (farmhouse inns). Many of these uniquely designed, mountain- or water-side accommodations have become popular hits that are hard to book. In Ludao Town alone, there are 208 qualified homestays (farmhouse inns). As the only town in Yuhang District without any industrial parks, Ludao Town boasts accolades such as China Biosphere Reserve, National Forest Park, National Ecological Town (Nationally Recognized Beautiful Environment Town), National Sanitary Town, and one of China's Top 100 Tourism Towns. Its rich natural tourism resources are widely praised.
This “Stay in Yuhang: The Highly Anticipated” First Yuhang Homestay Festival special event, hosted by the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Yuhang District, Hangzhou City and the People’s Government of Ludao Town, and organized by Zhejiang Radio & Television Group, was held in Ludao Town. The event gave homestays a richer meaning—music and public welfare—and also promoted the public brand “Yushang Countryside.” Nearly 20 homestay representatives from Ludao Town, including Xingye Lusu, Meilu Mountain Retreat, Xishang Yuan She, Aojv, Shiman Xiaoyuan, Ginkgo Tree, Yuezhu Mountain Retreat, Yizhu Cottage, and Hetianli Mountain Retreat, contributed their own share of love for this event.
On May 11, 200 children who love to sing came to the Yuhang Homestay Festival with their parents to participate in the public welfare activity “Music Opens a Bright World.” At 14:00 in the afternoon, the children, accompanied by their parents and teachers, arrived at the Ludao RV Campsite Park, where they also took part in a public welfare market. At the market, the children exchanged or purchased items on-site using toys, books, and handicrafts they had carefully selected. All proceeds from the public welfare market were donated during the “Yushang Countryside: Meet Ludao — Music Opens a Bright World” charity concert held on May 12. In addition to the market, the children also created artworks titled “The House in My Heart” on drawing boards, with all auction proceeds going entirely to charity.
After the busy public welfare market, parents and children checked into a variety of uniquely styled, beautifully appointed homestays in Ludao Town, enjoying dinner made with fresh ingredients sourced from Yuhang’s rural areas. After dinner, the children and parents watched an outdoor movie together. Compared to the children, the parents had deeper memories of outdoor movies. While watching the film, the children listened curiously as their parents recounted stories of watching movies during their childhood. While city nights are brightly lit, the gentle nightfall and cozy homestays in Yuhang’s countryside scenery soothed everyone staying there.
On the morning of May 12 at 9:00, the “Yushang Countryside: Meet Ludao — Music Opens a Bright World” charity concert officially began. 200 children from a children’s choir lit up the world with their angelic voices. The power of music knows no boundaries, and the adults present were equally enchanted by the children’s singing, as if their souls had been purified.
At the charity concert, proceeds from the market, artwork sales, and part of the income earned by Yuhang homestays during the event were all donated through the Zhejiang Women and Children’s Foundation to provide nutritious meals for underprivileged children in Taijiang County, Guizhou Province.
