Situated in Tian Tang Valley, Songcun Natural Village, Shangougu Scenic Area, reaching the site involves a tough climb with some adventure elements. It lies about 3 kilometers from the center of Luni Town. Tangkeng Ape Man is a large suspended boulder halfway up the mountain, formed from conglomerate sandstone. The boulder is 3.55 meters high and about 2 meters wide. On its eastern face, there is a roughly 1-meter-wide triangular overhang that resembles an angry lion’s roar. The remarkable feature of this rock is that more than half of its body extends beyond its base — a mere 1.44-meter-long, 1-meter-wide, and 0.3-meter-high stone slab. About 1.8 meters in width and 2.5 meters in length, a significant part of the rock does not touch the base and hangs dramatically over the cliff edge. The gap between the hanging section and the base ranges from 0.4 to 0.7 meters. Tangkeng Ape Man sits at an altitude of over 200 meters on the hillsides of Niushan within Tian Tang Valley. Around 15 meters from the boulder, there is a small waterfall and a pool of water covering an area of about 6 square meters.
