Located in Mao Tang Natural Village, Shangou Gully Scenic Area, the Mao Tang Strange Stone Group has average accessibility, with an earthen road that allows vehicles to enter. The stone group is situated atop Huanghu Summit, at an altitude of 371 meters, and features stones shaped like a turtle, a rainbow, and a snake’s head. The turtle-shaped stone resembles a giant mountain, standing 5.4 meters tall, 6.6 meters long, and 4.2 meters wide. The turtle stone and the rainbow stone together form a scene known as “the turtle snatching the rainbow.” There is a 4-meter gap between them. The snake head stone is located 10 meters above the rainbow stone, resembling a flicking tongue, measuring 4 meters in height, 4.2 meters in width, and 6.2 meters in length. There are two pits on the snake head stone: one large with a diameter of 700 centimeters, and one small with a diameter of 10 centimeters. Villagers report that the larger pit remains filled with water year-round—even if scooped dry, it refills on its own within two days, a phenomenon that remains unexplained. The strange stone group is formed from collapsed granite boulders and is about 2 kilometers from Mao Tang Natural Village. The Huanghu Summit where it's located stands over 480 meters above sea level. About half a kilometer to the northeast of the stone group, you can also find other unique rock formations such as “the crab eating the stone” and “the thatch sawing the stone slab.”
