Guide: Dongming Mountain Forest Park is located within Yuhang District, Hangzhou, on the edge of the Liangzhu Relics site, north of Anci Ancient Town, and south of the Dongtiao River. It is part of the Tianmu Mountain range. The park features attractions such as the ruins of Dongming Temple, the ruins of the Immortals' Taoist Temple, Mengjiang Hall, Dragon Eye Spring, Jiudong Ridge, ancient mountain passes, and the tomb of Shen Kuo, a great scientist from the Northern Song Dynasty. Introduction: Legend has it that Emperor Jianwen of the Ming Dynasty once wandered here, and upon seeing the sunrise, named the place “Dongming” (Eastern Light), where Dongming Temple was built. The area boasts lush forests, verdant bamboo, beautiful scenery, and a tranquil environment, along with facilities such as a hunting ground and a barbecue area. Golden Peak Sunrise: The summit of Jinfeng, at an elevation of 489.7 meters, is the highest peak in the vicinity, offering a distant view of the Tianmu Mountain range. The sunrise at Golden Peak is most spectacular on clear days. At dawn, the red sun seems to burst forth from the horizon, creating an exceptionally stunning view. Ruins of the Ancient Dongming Temple: Dongming Temple has a long history, having flourished and declined over the years, reaching its peak during the reign of Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty. Emperor Jianwen of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yunwen, once took refuge here. He is said to have written a couplet and personally planted a golden osmanthus tree, planted a peony upside down, symbolizing the inversion of order. In 1940, the temple was destroyed by Japanese invaders during wartime. Today, only the osmanthus tree remains. Every autumn, its fragrant blossoms fill the air. Nearby, there are also ancient trees such as camellias, dalbergia odorifera, and white magnolia.

Transportation: It is 17 kilometers (a 30-minute drive) from West Lake in Hangzhou and just 4.5 kilometers from National Highway 104. From Huazhe Square at Wulin Gate in Hangzhou, take bus no. 513 to Changming Bridge, a 1-hour ride costing 3 yuan. Then rent a tricycle (5 yuan) to get there.
