Jinhe Wangdingdi Waterfall Square is located under the Wangdingdi Overpass in Nankai District, adjacent to Tianjin First Central Hospital. It was completed in September 2000. The square features a waterside dock, green corridors, rockery waterfalls on the east bank of the river, and the shining characters “Jinhe” (Jin River) on the west side. As a public space open free of charge around the clock, it attracts numerous citizens who come here to cool off and play during summer, with pleasure boats dotting the river and light songs and dances filling the square. In winter, ice sleds and sleighs bring joy to local residents. Over the years, Jinhe Wangdingdi Waterfall Square has become a beloved leisure destination for the public.

The construction of Jinhe Wangdingdi Waterfall Square is a true reflection of the love and dedication of officials and residents in building their hometown. In March 2003, the highly anticipated Qiangzi River renovation project commenced. From seniors to students, from government employees to military personnel, from corporate workers to farmers from suburban counties, a volunteer workforce of 100,000 people worked enthusiastically on the site. In just six months, they transformed this 18.5-kilometer-long river into a picturesque “water town in the south of the Yangtze,” ideal for leisure and living. Jinhe Wangdingdi Waterfall Square carries the sincere aspirations of the citizens for building a beautiful Tianjin and reflects the noble spirit of selfless dedication among the people. In 2002, it was designated as a Tianjin Patriotic Education Base by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.
