Jingshan Ancient Trail

Jingshan Ancient Trail is a cultural heritage site protected by Hangzhou City.

Jingshan Ancient Trail is located on Jingshan Mountain in Yuhang District, Hangzhou. The area is home to the famous Jingshan Temple, and while mountain roads have been built, there is also a well-equipped sanatorium on the mountain. However, the ancient trail remains preserved.

Historical research indicates that the earliest version of the Jingshan Ancient Trail was a natural stone path along the mountainside, featuring a sloped design with steps added only in particularly steep sections. Since 2007, the Yuhang District government has carried out restoration work on the trail. To preserve its natural and wild character, local red slab stones were specially selected for the repairs. Hiking up the trail, you’ll wind through serene surroundings where birds chirp occasionally, bamboo leaves rustle in the breeze, and overlapping peaks are often veiled in mist.

Jingshan Village: Located on the northeastern peak of the Tianmu Mountain Range in Jingshan Town, Yuhang District, Hangzhou, Jingshan Village lies within the scenic area of Jingshan Temple—the foremost among the “Five Mountains and Ten Temples” of southern China—and is about 40 kilometers from downtown Hangzhou. The village governs six natural villages and nine villager groups, with a total of 515 farming households. It has 71 Party members, 43 villager (cooperative) representatives, and a seven-member village leadership team, for a total population of 1,610.
