Anti-Japanese Wall Slogan

The Anti-Japanese Wall Slogan is a cultural relic protected at the municipal level in Hangzhou.

The Anti-Japanese Wall Slogan is located in Shangpan Village, Taiping, Ludao Town. Dating back to 1945, it is classified as a modern-era significant historical site and representative structure.

The Anti-Japanese Wall Slogan was written by the New Fourth Army’s 16th Brigade during the Anti-Japanese War when they were stationed in Shangpan Natural Village, Taiping Township (now Shangshan Village, Taiping Mountain, Ludao Town), as part of their anti-Japanese propaganda efforts. The text reads “Soldiers and civilians united, drive the devils out!” The slogan is 2.9 meters above the ground, with characters 0.55 meters high and 0.3 meters wide, written in blue ink. The slogan wall faces the village road to the south, making it highly visible. After more than half a century of exposure to sun and rain, the writing has faded significantly. In 1996, the Office of the Yuhang City Cultural Relics Management Committee restored the original text with similar-colored ink, and it is now well preserved.

In 2009, the Anti-Japanese Wall Slogan was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protected site in Hangzhou.

Protected area: Approximately 5 meters beyond the relic itself, including the surrounding residential courtyard to the north, covering a total area of 389 square meters.

Construction control zone: Approximately 20 meters beyond the protected area, including two two-story and one one-story residences to the west; one two-story and one one-story residence to the east, covering a total area of 4,137 square meters.

Taiping Mountain Village: Located at the northwest end of Yuhang District, Hangzhou, and southwest of Ludao Town, Taiping Mountain Village borders Laogongtang Village to the south (adjacent to Lin’an), connects to the Shangguigou Scenic Area to the west (serving as the gateway to the scenic zone), continues to Anji beyond that, faces Yacheng Village across steep hills to the north, and neighbors Siling Village of Jinghai Town to the east. The Taiping Stream flows from the Shangguigou Scenic Area from west to east through Taiping Mountain Village into Jinghai Lake (Siling Reservoir).
