Songcheng is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Hangzhou Songcheng is China’s most popular theme park. The park hosts a variety of activities year-round, including the Spring Festival Temple Fair, Torch Festival, Water-Splashing Festival, and Pantheon Festival. Stepping into Songcheng feels like traveling back in time. As their slogan goes, “Give me one day, I’ll show you a thousand years!”

Songcheng follows the philosophy of "architecture as form, culture as soul." Six major themed districts within the park have undergone glamorous upgrades: Songhe East Street, the Tuhao Family Area, Rouge Lane, Feilai Lane, Food Street, and Market Street—bustling with energy. New attractions such as the Great Song Culture Experience Hall, Liu Yong’s Romance Pavilion, and the Seventy-Two Traditional Workshops have made their debut. High-tech experiences like the Living Along the River During the Qingming Festival, Ghost House of Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio, Heart-Pounding Ghost House, and Human Skin Inn Audio Room offer constant surprises. At the Tuhao Family Area, you can try freshly pounded rice cakes, watch traditional wooden oil pressing, taste handmade tofu, and relive the memories of past generations. Plus, there are activities all year round.

“Songcheng Eternal Love” is the soul of Hangzhou Songcheng. With a cast of beautiful performers, this show has become iconic. Since its debut over ten years ago, “Songcheng Eternal Love” has been performed more than 16,000 times, attracting over 48 million audience members, making it the theater performance with the highest number of shows and attendees in the world. In 2014, six major themed districts within the park—Songhe East Street, the Tuhao Family Area, Rouge Lane, Feilai Lane, Food Street, and Market Street—were gloriously upgraded and bustling with life. The Great Song Culture Experience Hall, the Seventy-Two Traditional Workshops, and other new attractions made their first appearances, while the high-tech Lost Ancient City experience and the Immortal Mountains and Buddhist Grottoes zone delivered continuous thrills.

The grand song-and-dance performance “Songcheng Eternal Love” is the soul of Hangzhou Songcheng. Utilizing cutting-edge sound, light, electrical effects, and stage machinery, the show delivers surprising and spectacular presentations of the hardships of the Liangzhu ancient people, the glory of the Song imperial palace, the tragic bravery of General Yue’s army, the timeless love of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai as well as Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian, and vividly portrays silk, tea, and the misty beauty of the Jiangnan region. It offers an incredibly immersive visual experience and a deeply moving emotional impact.

Attraction Introduction

1. Living Along the River During the Qingming Festival: Using advanced technology, this attraction brings the famous painting “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” to life. On a nearly 200-square-meter screen, dynamic scenes depict bustling river transport, lively markets, serene homes, and the transition from day to night, perfectly capturing the urban charm of the prosperous Song Dynasty.

2. Heart-Pounding Ghost House: Based on the forensic classic “Collected Cases of Injustice Rectified” from the Song Dynasty, this ghost house uses modern high-tech lighting, mechanical effects, and sound systems to create an immersive, spine-chilling experience that takes you back in time to solve mysterious cases from a thousand years ago.

3. Ghost House of Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio: Inspired by the novel “Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio,” particularly the story of Ning Caichen and Nie Xiaoqian, and blended with frightening imagery from the best-selling novel “Grave Robbers’ Chronicles,” this ghost house features ten terrifying scenes: Ghost Shadows of Strange Tales, Cursed Blood House, Tombfield Corpse Coffins, Haunted Eyes in the Wilderness, Ghosts of the Broken Bridge, Zombie Poison Cave, Mysterious Hanging Well, Curse in the Mortuary, Evil Realm of Rat Spirits, and the Shadowy Nether Town.

4. Strange Street: Built based on a dream of Emperor Gaozong of Song, Zhao Gou, this street features oddities like the Tilted House, Upside-Down House, Horizontal House, and Invisibility House. Each building is filled with bizarre occurrences and unimaginably strange sights, truly a marvel of craftsmanship that leaves visitors in awe.
