Guide: Located by the Yongjin Pool on the southern shore of West Lake, adjacent to Liulang Wenying, West Lake Tiandi is a gathering place for Hangzhou’s trendy and stylish crowd. Highlights: Biyoutian Tea & Wine Era, Gumeixiu, Fulintang, and more. Introduction: Like Shanghai Xintiandi, West Lake Tiandi is also owned by the Hong Kong-based Shui On Group and designed by American architect Benjamin Wood. However, it presents a distinct style. While both spaces showcase fashion and innovation, West Lake Tiandi makes the most of the lake and mountain scenery to fully express Hangzhou’s landscape gardening character, becoming a hub for the city’s trendy and stylish crowds. Situated by the Yongjin Pool on the southern shore of West Lake and next to Liulang Wenying, the development spans 30,000 square meters, though currently only Phase I, titled “The Garden Chapter,” is open. Once the entire project is completed, the area will reach 50,000 square meters. The over ten buildings in Phase I are historically significant residences in the Zhejiang architectural style. The designer has skillfully integrated modern elements with traditional structures, preserving features such as white walls, black tiles, carved beams, and painted rafters, while also using large floor-to-ceiling windows to frame the views outside. Though there are relatively few businesses within the old buildings, each was carefully selected. The area is home to world-renowned cafes, clubs, restaurants, entertainment venues, and shops.
