Introduction: Exploring Plum Blossoms at Lingfeng is located west of West Lake, in Qingzhiwu at the foot of Lingfeng Mountain. During the Kaoyun era of the Later Jin Dynasty, the Lingfeng Temple was built. It featured structures such as the Cuiwei Pavilion, Mianyun Hall, Miaogaotai, and Xibei Pond. In the early Wanli era, the temple declined and the monks dispersed, leaving only the main hall. During the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty, Zhejiang's provincial commander Lianxi renovated the Lingfeng Temple and planted over a hundred plum trees around it. In the first year of the Xuantong era, Zhou Mengpo planted another three hundred plum trees, creating a prime spot for plum blossom viewing, hence the name “Exploring Plum Blossoms at Lingfeng.” After the Republican era, both the temple and the plum trees disappeared. In the spring of 1988, the garden authorities reopened a plum garden spanning over 400 acres, planting more than 5,000 plum trees, including 200 rare “summer-laurel” varieties. A complex of buildings for plum blossom viewing was also newly constructed on the site of the former Lingfeng Temple, featuring the elegant “Longyue Tower,” where visitors can enjoy the blossoms and taste green plums. The historic sites such as the “Xibei Pond” and “Juyue Spring” were also restored. Today, nestled within this secluded valley surrounded by verdant mountains and lush woods, the area boasts verdant lawns, seas of plum blossoms, charming pavilions, and a faint floral fragrance drifting through the air—offering a highly enticing landscape.
