Longwu Tea Town

Longwu Town is located on the southwestern side of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is one of the six newly developed major tourist scenic areas in Hangzhou and an ecological tourism hub along the golden "Three Rivers and Two Lakes" travel route.

Surrounded by mountains on three sides, it boasts a beautiful natural environment and numerous historical sites. Verdant mountain ranges such as Wuchao Mountain, Xiaoheshan, and Qinglong Mountain stretch as far as the eye can see, and the picturesque Daqing Valley Ecological Tourism Park, Xishan National Forest Park, Bailongtan Waterfall, as well as the uniquely shaped "Eight Scenic Spots of Longmen" including Shiguan, Yushi, Qianzhangyan, Sigu Ping, Guwangdian, Yingwushi, and Panggu, along with the historic Jinlian Temple, all add to its charm. The town also features Hangzhou’s first “sports and leisure cycling track” and “Xishan National Forest Hiking Trail.”

Since ancient times, it has been a great place for spring outings, summer retreats, autumn osmanthus appreciation, and winter snow walks, earning the reputation of a "heavenly paradise." It is also the largest protected production area for West Lake Longjing tea, also known as Longwu Tea Town or Longwu Village. The "Qingwanglin" brand West Lake Longjing tea produced by Hangzhou’s "Qingwanglin" Tea Co., Ltd. is particularly authentic and genuine. In 2007, Longwu Town was incorporated into Zhuan Tang Subdistrict.

Longwu Tea Village features an excellent ecological environment and simple, traditional folk customs. It is characterized by an open, extensive, elegant, and comfortable natural setting. With mountains, streams, tea plantations, forests, and villages as its backdrop, and deeply rooted tea and folk culture at its core, the village integrates tea gardens, flower gardens, orchards, vegetable patches, and courtyards. It serves as a unique rural tourism destination where urban residents can reconnect with nature, embrace local culture, unwind, and experience traditional charm.

Endless tea plantations greet visitors as the entrance undergoes a dramatic transformation

At the main village entrance, several stylish Chinese-style iron screens stand in sequence, exuding artistic flair. The facades of 38 villagers’ homes have also been renovated, all in a unified Republican-era style.

The village has also added a new floral park spanning 20,000 square meters, featuring various native plants. In addition to the wide lawns often seen in movies, the most eye-catching features are two 100-meter-long avenues lined with ginkgo trees.

Such transformations can be seen across all 11 villages and communities involved in the revitalization of Longwu Tea Town. For example, Xihu Tea Farm Village to the west of Longwu has built a new park north of Changdai Road, complete with small bridges, flowing water, pavilions, and flowers.

To enhance the entrance appearance, the northwest corner of Longwu Town—Longwu Entrance—has been upgraded, now featuring terraced fields of blooming flowers. Nearby, at the intersection of Linglong Road and Shangchengdai Road, construction is underway on Rabbit Hill Park, covering over 330 acres. It will include mixed forests and endless tea plantations, serving as the ecological gateway to Longwu Tea Town. Adjacent to this, an eco-friendly parking lot with 1,000 spaces will be built, following the contours of the hilly terrain.

Over 20,000 cherry blossom trees have been planted across Longwu Tea Town, complemented by magnolia, osmanthus, pomelo, and persimmon trees, creating a picturesque "ten-mile fragrant sea of snow" tea town landscape.

The premium tourism route in the Longwu area has been completed. Future plans include launching a special themed travel route called “Strolling Through Tea Gardens • Wellness Journey,” connecting the “art and folklore” of Waitongwu, the “tea, forest, reservoir, and homestays” of Shangchengdai, and the “water” and “oxygen bar” of Bailongtan. A number of homestay and leisure tourism projects, such as Midu and Huaxiangyuan, have also emerged as a result.

Zhuan Tang Subdistrict: Located within Xihu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province.
