China National Tea Museum

The China National Tea Museum is located at Shuangfeng on Longjing Road, Longwu, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It officially opened to the public in April 1991 and is the only national-level thematic museum in China dedicated to tea and tea culture. The museum integrates various service functions such as cultural exhibitions, science education, talent cultivation, scientific research, academic exchanges, as well as tea tasting, dining, conference hosting, and leisure.

The museum complex consists of an exhibition building, the International Peace Tea Culture Exchange Center, a flavor tea house, and a tea art tour area.

The exhibition building houses six themed exhibition halls: Tea History, Tea Varieties, Tea Events, Tea Ware, Tea Culture Connections, and Tea Customs. Through themes such as “Tracing the History of Tea,” “A Gathering of Famous Teas,” “The Art of Tea Ware,” “Tea Drinking Customs,” and “Tea and Human Health,” it outlines the historical trajectory of China’s millennia-old tea civilization and vividly reflects the rich and diverse culture of Chinese tea.

The International Tea Culture Exchange Center is equipped with an academic lecture hall, temporary exhibition spaces, VIP reception rooms, and meeting rooms, making it a fully functional and well-equipped ideal venue and stage for international tea culture exchange.

The flavor tea house and tea art tour area highlight distinctive tea drinking customs and serve both leisure and educational purposes. They also offer visitors a serene and pleasant environment to enjoy tea and relax.

The China National Tea Museum actively participates in various tea-related events. It has hosted eight West Lake International Tea Festivals and the Fifth International Tea Culture Symposium, and organized a variety of distinctive and meaningful temporary exhibitions and tea culture activities.

The China National Tea Museum is one of the first batch of patriotic education bases in Zhejiang Province. It boasts a well-trained tea performance team, provides professional guides for bilingual (Chinese and English) tours, offers various tea culture tour packages, conducts tea master training programs, and serves as a base for inheriting Chinese tea culture.
