Announcement Date: April 15, 1961

Located inside Yanxia Cave at the southern foot of Wengjia Mountain on the western side of South Peak, Xihu District. The cave faces south, is 30 meters deep, and the statues inside are carved naturally along the contours of the rock. On both sides of the cave entrance are standing statues of Guanyin and Shìzhì carved during the Northern Song Dynasty, with graceful forms and serene expressions. Inside the cave are surviving stone carvings of the Sixteen Arhats from the Five Dynasties Wuyue Kingdom, vivid in appearance and distinct in character. Additionally, there are multiple cliff inscriptions and stelae from the Northern Song to the Qing Dynasty, though most have become faded.
