On the section of National Highway 329 in Longshan Town, there is a huge billboard bearing six large white characters on a red background that read “Longshan Flower Market.” Ordinarily, the word “market” is hard to dissociate from the mundane, but this place is entirely different. Although the sound of haggling can occasionally be heard, the divine craftsmanship that “transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary” fills the air with an enchanting artistic charm.

Like paintings and calligraphy, every green tree and every root carving here can cultivate one’s temperament, nurture sentiment, refine character, and enlighten the mind. Various potted plants, meticulously nurtured by skilled artisans, reveal grandeur in small scale, each with its own unique style and posture, exuding exceptional charm. Root carving is an emerging art form—discarded, withered wood and old trees, once cast aside, are transformed through processing, polishing, and shaping into exquisite treasures brimming with natural character. The artisans’ extraordinary artistic vision and profound understanding of life are all infused into these once-lifeless, discarded stumps, reawakening them and turning these forgotten “wastes” into dazzling pearls in the hall of art.

Covering an area of over 500 acres, the Longshan Flower Market offers not only artworks such as potted plants and root carvings, but also a variety of live flowers, plants, and small trees.
