The Longshan Anti-Japanese Fortification Group is located along the coastal area from Fulong Mountain to Jin'ao in Longshan Town, Cixi City. On the eve of the War of Resistance Against Japan in 1934, the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China invited German military advisor von Falkenhausen to draft the "Implementation Plan for Coastal Defense Facilities in the Ningbo Area," which called for the construction of "permanent fortifications at key points along the coasts of three regions." The Longshan Anti-Japanese Fortification Group was a coastal defense military project overseen by Wang Haonan, who was then the commander of the Ningbo Defense Command and also the division commander of the 194th Division of the Nationalist Army. The fortifications are distributed along the coastal area from Fulong Mountain to Xiepu in Longshan Town. Originally, there was one fort every 500 meters. Currently, 14 such fortifications remain within Cixi.

All the fortifications are built with reinforced concrete and come in three types: the first type are large mother forts—four of which still exist. These are square-shaped with radiating gun ports and cover an area of about thirty to forty square meters; the second type are small cylindrical son forts—seven of which still exist. These are approximately two meters in diameter and about 2.5 meters high, featuring two to three gun ports; the third type are concealed bunkers—three of which still exist. These are square underground or mountain-embedded fortifications.

The Longshan Anti-Japanese Fortification Group stands as a testament to the people of eastern Zhejiang resisting foreign aggression and striving for national independence. It holds significant historical value and serves as an important site for studying the military history of the war. In January 2011, the People’s Government of Cixi City designated the Longshan Anti-Japanese Fortification Group as part of the sixth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units in Cixi. In January 2017, the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province included the group in the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units.
