Bottle Hill is located on Zhongshan East Road in Ping Shan Community, Jianshe Subdistrict, Nanhu District, Jiaxing City. It covers an area of 2,000 square meters and has an elevation of about 15 meters. Legend has it that during the Song Dynasty, there was a wine administration office here where vessels were stored, and later abandoned, forming a hill which came to be known as Bottle Hill. Climbing to the top offers a panoramic view of the city, and in winter, when covered with snow, it is dubbed "Snow-Covered Bottle Hill," one of the Eight Scenic Views of Jiahe. In the early years of the Republic of China, it was taken over as public property, and in 1918 (the seventh year of the Republic), the Bayong Pavilion from Yuehu Pavilion on South Lake was moved here to enhance the scenery (it was later destroyed and has since been rebuilt). There is also a pavilion on the hill called "Yuebo Tower." After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Bottle Hill was turned into a park. At the southern foot of the hill stands a stone memorial archway inscribed with “Bottle Hill.” The hill is lush with trees and serves as a leisure spot for the public. The city’s civil air defense command center is also located here. A large number of “Han bottles” were unearthed in the civil air defense facilities. At the southern foot of Bottle Hill lies Lingguang Well, built by Xiang Zhong, Minister of War during the Ming Dynasty. It was named after its proximity to Lingguang Lane. The well is 36 centimeters in diameter, with a well curb 50 centimeters high. The outer ring is octagonal and the inner ring is round. The interior is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, shaped like a frustum, with walls lined with blue bricks. In 1988, to protect Lingguang Well, the Jiaxing Municipal Government constructed a stone pavilion over it and erected a stone tablet beside it as a reminder for future generations. The flat terrain of Jiaxing makes Bottle Hill, with its unique geographical advantages, highly regarded by literati and scholars throughout history. It is a renowned scenic spot in Jiaxing and holds significant historical value. In 1981, both sites were jointly designated as municipal-level cultural heritage sites in Jiaxing.
