The Michelin Guide is placing increasing emphasis on Asian cuisine. In September, it released the “2017 Shanghai Michelin Guide” for mainland China, in which Lao Gan Bei Shanghai, from Taiwan, received a Michelin one-star rating, becoming the first Michelin-starred barbecue restaurant. Din Tai Fung’s self-created brand, Lady Goose, also earned a one-star rating.
