Typhoon Megi, the 17th this year, is expected to become one of the top three strongest typhoons of the year

Typhoon Malakas has just moved away and caused severe damage in Japan, while a tropical depression near Guam is expected to become the 17th typhoon of the year. This typhoon has been named Megi and will impact Taiwan's weather next week.

The typhoon path is currently predicted to pass through the Bashi Channel. It will depend on the strength of the Pacific High Pressure; if it weakens, the typhoon may be steered northward, greatly increasing the chance of it making landfall in Taiwan.

 

If Typhoon Megi forms, the convergence of ocean moisture and heat energy will be strong, potentially making it one of the top three typhoons of the year. With Teachers' Day holidays next week, travelers planning any trips must pay special attention to weather developments and prepare adequately for the typhoon.
