In 1995, the district committee and government, aiming to resolve the long-term absence of a creative base and exhibition venue for farmers' paintings, launched the project to construct the Jiaxing Farmers' Painting Exhibition Hall. In 1996, they spent 3 million yuan to build a 3,000-square-meter cultural center and farmers' painting exhibition hall. This was the first farmers' painting exhibition hall in the entire province. The hall includes a 150-square-meter exhibition area for farmers' paintings, a 120-square-meter space for creation and guidance, a 45-square-meter room for displaying and sampling works, an exterior

guest reception room of 40 square meters, a 150-square-meter training base for farmers' paintings, and a 70-square-meter second-floor corridor dedicated to exhibiting farmers' paintings.

Since its completion in May 1999, the exhibition hall has hosted 26 national, provincial, and municipal art exhibitions, organized 18 training sessions for farmers' painting, and received 16 visits from international guests from countries such as the United States, Germany, South Korea, Canada, Japan, and Spain. It has also welcomed 11 visits from domestic sister art towns including Huxian in Shaanxi, Jinshan in Shanghai, Cixi and Daishan in Zhejiang. Additionally, over 60,000 rural residents, citizens, and primary and secondary school students have visited the farmers' painting exhibitions.

In 1999, the exhibition hall was recognized by the Jiaxing Municipal Committee and Municipal People's Government as one of the “Top 100 Achievements of Jiaxing’s Reform and Opening-Up Over Twenty Years” and as a “Patriotic Education Base.” Even more encouragingly, since its establishment, the base has not only become a hub for farmers' painting creation in the district but also a gathering place that unites artists. Over the years, many farmers' painting creators have regarded the exhibition hall as their home and workspace. Numerous artists come here to paint and exchange ideas day and night, whenever they have free time.
