Linhu Bridge
Linhu Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiaxing City.
Linhu Bridge is located in Qizhen Village Group 3, Youchegang Town, Xiuzhou District, Jiaxing City. The year of its original construction is unknown. According to *Longing for the Water Town – Ancient Bridges* compiled by Mr. Yang Yuexing from the Cultural Station of Youchegang Town, the current bridge was rebuilt in the 22nd year of the Daoguang reign (1842). It spans Chiwan Harbor from north to south and is a three-arched, railing-equipped stone slab beam bridge. The total length is 19.41 meters, the width is 2.5 meters, and the height from the bottom of the bridge to the water surface is 3.2 meters. Both the bridge deck and the bridge pillars are made up of four stone slabs. The sides of the bridge deck are fitted with stone railings, and the four ends have square balusters. There are five stone steps on the northern ramp, while the southern ramp has none. The inscriptions on the east and west sides read “Reconstructed Linhu Bridge.” The inscription on the eastern side reads, “With one thought of compassion, a virtuous deed is accomplished; may this bridge endure for thousands of years, forever aiding travelers.” The inscription on the western side reads, “At seventy years of health, a solitary feat was achieved; countless travelers benefit endlessly.” The bridge body, railings, and other parts are adorned with carved patterns such as coiled dragons, meanders, and scrolling lotus motifs. This bridge features a relatively large structure, exquisite craftsmanship, and beautifully carved decorative patterns. It is an important historical building in the area and holds significant artistic and historical value. In 2010, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit in Jiaxing.
