Xiuren Bridge is located in Jiuhui Natural Village, Jiuhui Administrative Village, Jiabei Subdistrict, Xiuzhou District, Jiaxing City, bordering Yinxiu Village of Xincheng Subdistrict to the south. According to Volume 5 "Bridges" of the Guangxu-era (1875–1908) Jiaxing Prefecture Records: “Xiuren Bridge is situated nine li north of (Xiushui) County, known as Jiuhui. In the eighth year of the Daoguang reign (1828), local residents Qian Maohua and Zhong Jingtian pooled funds to rebuild it (as recorded in the records).” The 1923 Xinchen Town Records also support this account but make no mention of any later renovations or reconstructions. It is a single-arch stone bridge, stretching north-south across the Xincheng Pond, with a total length of 25 meters, a width of 2.62 meters, an arch span of 12 meters, and an arch height of 5.65 meters. The arch ring is constructed with vertical longitudinal bonded stone slabs laid in sections. The bridge railing is made of long stone slabs, with square balusters. The southern side of the bridge has lost its railing panels, while the northern side has partially collapsed, leaving only five remaining square balusters. There are 29 steps laid on both the north and south sides. On the western side of the bridge’s top remains a railing panel, and the bridge’s name plaque is inscribed in relief regular script with “Xiuren Bridge.” At the center of the coping stone is a whirlpool pattern. On the eastern and western sides of the bridge are couplets inscribed in relief regular script. The eastern side reads: “Originally built in those years with the esteemed name ‘Xiuren’ as □,” though the rest is too faded to discern. Xiuren Bridge has a long history, large scale, elegant form, and exquisite craftsmanship. It is an important local historical structure with high historical and artistic value. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit of Jiaxing in 2010.
