Shuangqiao Site

The Shuangqiao Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Jiaxing.

The Shuangqiao Site is located in Shuangqiao Village, Wangjiangjing Town, Xiuzhou District, Jiaxing City, covering an area of approximately 11,000 square meters. It was discovered in 1953, with cultural layers distributed throughout the surrounding areas of Shuangqiao and along both sides of the former Suzhou-Jiaxing Highway. In 1973, a partial excavation was carried out, revealing two cultural layers. Artifacts unearthed include pottery such as tripod cauldrons with fish-fin-shaped feet, double-handled ewers, ring-footed plates, goblets, and flared-rim basins, as well as stone tools like stepped adzes and flat perforated stone axes, and a small number of bone tools. The site's usage spans from the Liangzhu Culture of the Neolithic Age through the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. Currently, the site’s above-ground area is occupied by school buildings, with the central part being a playground, and no pottery shards have been found on the ground surface. The site covers a large area, has a long period of usage, and includes a rich variety of unearthed relics, making it of significant historical and scientific value. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site in Jiaxing in 1981.

Shuangqiao Village: Shuangqiao Village is located in the southern part of Wangjiangjing Town, about 5 kilometers from the town center and around 4 kilometers from downtown Jiaxing. The total area of the village is 8.337 square kilometers. Provincial Road 07 runs north-south through the village area. To the north, the Shenjiahuzhou Expressway crosses the area from east to west, with an expressway exit located within the village boundaries, providing very convenient external transportation. The village currently consists of 48 villager groups, 35 natural villages, with a population of about 4,273, including 2,247 laborers, and a total of 1,263 farming households, making it the largest central village in the town.
