Dadun Port Site
The Dadun Port Site is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Jiaxing City.
The Dadungang Site is located in Groups 23 and 24 of Fozhi Natural Village, Jiannan Village, Wangdian Town, Xiuzhou District, Jiaxing City, 50 meters west of Qianxin Highway and about 30 meters northwest of the Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway, with a river channel about 50 meters to the south. The site covers an area of 13,000 square meters, and the original earthen mound was over 3 meters high. During the development of the park in 1999, a jade bi disc, a jade bracelet, a black pottery bowl with folded sides, a stone arrowhead, a jade bead, and a jade conical ornament were unearthed—one of each—and subsequently handed over to the Jiaxing Museum. Based on the excavated artifacts, the site is identified as a settlement from the Liangzhu Culture of the Neolithic Age. After land leveling, the area is now planted with mulberry trees, and the high mound has disappeared. The Dadungang Site covers a large area, and the unearthed artifacts are of high grade and unique types, reflecting the special status of this region during the Liangzhu Culture period. It holds significant historical and scientific value. In 2009, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage conservation unit of Jiaxing.
