“Picking oranges beneath the eastern hedge, I glimpse the southern mountains in serene delight.” Huangshawu is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the sea on one, creating a unique climate that is warm in winter and cool in summer. In spring, orange blossoms bloom in profusion, filling the air with fragrance for miles; in autumn, the hills are laden with golden fruit, making it the best place for visitors to admire, taste, and pick oranges. Varieties include Ben Shan honey oranges, red oranges, oranges, citrons, Fu oranges, seedless oranges, and mandarins. Among them, Ben Shan honey oranges—renowned for their golden hue, sweet-tangy flavor, thin skin, thick juicy flesh—are the most famous, with an annual yield of over a thousand tons.
