Xiantan Temple Ruins

The Xiantan Temple Ruins are a protected cultural heritage site of Zhejiang Province.

The Xiantan Temple Ruins are located in Xiantan Temple Natural Village, Group 9, Nongfeng Village, Bai Bu Town, dating back to the Neolithic Age and classified as an ancient ruin site.

The site covers an area of approximately 20,000 square meters. It was discovered during a survey in 2000. Excavations were carried out from 2002 to 2003 by the Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, uncovering an area of about 2,400 square meters. The lower layer of the ruins contains early settlements from the Songze culture, above which are artificially built earthen platforms from both the early and late periods of the Songze culture. The early platform contains burials from the early Songze period, representing the earliest known platform-style burial site in the lower Yangtze River region. The late platform features rammed-earth structures that were in use up to the early Liangzhu culture period, and includes over 60 burials from the latest phase of the Songze culture and various phases of the Liangzhu culture.

On January 3, 2003, the Xiantan Temple Ruins were designated as a cultural heritage site under the protection of Haiyan County. On January 13, 2017, they were listed as part of the sixth group of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Heritage Protection Units.

Nongfeng Village: Nongfeng Village is located in the southwestern part of Bai Bu Town. To the east and north, it borders Xiaotian Village and Bailian Village respectively, while its southwestern edge adjoins Haining City. The village covers a total area of 2.89 square kilometers, with existing arable land spanning 3,219 mu. There are 22 contracting groups, 795 farming households, and a total population of 2,675. The village has a Party general branch with 78 members, under which there are 3 Party branches, and a village leadership team of 4 members. In 2011, the village achieved a total rural economic income of 165,162,000 yuan, with village-level economic income of 391,300 yuan and a per capita net income of 14,311 yuan...
