Former Residence of Bi Yuncheng
The former residence of Bi Yuncheng is a cultural relics protection unit of Haiyan County.
The former residence of Bi Yuncheng is located at No. 115 Nanzixia Street, Zhongcun Village, Nanbei Lake Scenic Area. Dating from the modern era, it is classified as a historical site from that period.
On January 3, 2003, the former residence of Bi Yuncheng was designated as a cultural relics protection unit of Haiyan County.
Bi Yuncheng (1891–1971) was a native of Gannpu Town, Haiyan. He studied at a private school in his youth, then became an apprentice at a fabric shop in Shanghai at the age of 14, where he taught himself diligently during his spare time. Later, he worked as a plate manager at the Commercial Press. Unable to afford books, he avidly read the concave printing plates, which led to severe myopia. During this time, he united progressive youths, founded the Xiyin Public Association, advocated for the value of time, organized study activities, explored ways to save the nation, and promoted democratic ideals. Zhongcun Village: Located south of Gannpu Town and east of the Changshan River, on the southern side of Dongmen Bridge in Haiyan County, Zhongcun Village borders Dongcun Village to the east, Gannan Village to the south, and Gannpu Village to the west. It was formed in 2001 through the merger of the former Zhendong Village and Zhennan Village. The village has 15 contracting groups, 501 households, and 1,336 residents, including 106 party members and a three-tier village leadership team of five members.
