The Hu Family Hall Residence is located at No. 20 Jiangyuan Lane, Shendang Town, dating back to the Qing Dynasty and classified as an ancient architectural structure.
On June 11, 2010, the Hu Family Hall Residence was designated as a cultural heritage site under the protection of Haiyan County.
Shendang Town: A Jiangnan Ancient Town — Shendang Town is situated on the north shore of Hangzhou Bay within Haiyan County, Zhejiang Province, neighboring the international metropolis of Shanghai. It lies close to the provincial-level scenic area “South-North Lake” and the world-renowned “Haining Tidal Bore.” With a history tracing back to the 25th year of Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s reign (222 BC), it is now an economic hub and political-cultural center in the northwest of Haiyan County. The town covers a total area of 61.87 square kilometers, with a population of 36,000, including an urban area of 3.02 square kilometers. It governs 10 administrative villages and one neighborhood committee.
