Located along the Cangji River in downtown Haining, Xishan Park covers an area of 165 acres. Nestled against the mountain and by the water, the park boasts pleasant scenery with lush greenery and secluded winding paths. It is a comprehensive park that integrates leisure and recreation.
Xishan, also known as Ziwu Mountain, is an important part of the unique urban landscape of Xiasshi known as "two mountains embracing a river," and features rich cultural landscapes and a strong mythological aura.
The park has over twenty scenic spots of varying sizes. The White Crane Pavilion, Triangle Pavilion, Young Phoenix Pavilion, Peace Pavilion, and Half-Side Pavilion—featuring glazed upturned eaves and carved beams painted with colorful designs—are nestled deep within the greenery. Scenic sites such as the Righteous Men’s Pavilion, the Zigzag Corridor, Secluded Winding Path, Fairyland Stroll, Smoke and Mist Cave, and Eight Immortals Terrace are scattered across the mountain.
At the summit of Xishan stands the Ziwu Pavilion, the iconic building of Haining City. The entire structure is rich in cultural significance and offers great value for tourism and sightseeing. The site also hosts the tomb of Xu Zhimo, a renowned modern poet. The tomb was rebuilt in the mid-1980s, and the tombstone is the only remaining relic from the original grave, with traces of human damage still faintly visible. It is located near Baishui Spring in the Wan Shi Wo area.
