On February 11, he was born in Tuding, Tongxiang. His original name was Yutang, his formal name Jintang, and his courtesy name Yutang. He went by his courtesy name and was a renowned seal carver, calligrapher, and painter.

In 1996, Qian donated 1,000 pieces to Haining City, including carefully collected Ming and Qing dynasty calligraphy and paintings, works by modern and contemporary masters, as well as his own paintings, calligraphy, and seal engravings. In response, Haining specially built the Qian Juntao Art Research Museum. In 1997, he inscribed the museum’s name.
