Jiangnan Famous Plaques and Couplets Museum
Located in the Prime Minister’s Mansion Style Street within Yanguan Town, the museum primarily exhibits over a hundred plaques from the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong and Jiaqing eras through the Guangxu and Xuantong periods to the Republican era. These plaques feature diverse themes including birthday congratulations, residential halls, Confucian schools and academies, as well as expressions of official positions, family lineage, and personal sentiments. It also displays dozens of couplets from different periods, with varying content and purposes. The aim is to experience the charm of “continuity” in Chinese historical civilization through these wooden and stone artifacts that have endured the passage of time.

In the past, most visitors came to Yanguan to see the “tidal bore” of the Qiantang River.
