Located at the eastern end of Prime Ministers' Mansion Historic Street. It is one of the five major city gates of the Ancient Yanguan City. Initially built in the 13th year of the Daye era of the Sui Dynasty (617 AD), it was later abandoned. Reconstructed in the 6th year of the Yonghui era of the Tang Dynasty, it has been renovated throughout successive dynasties. The three characters “Xuande Gate” were handwritten by Zhang Jiucheng, the top scholar of the Northern Song Dynasty. Emperor Qianlong passed through this gate during all four of his six southern tours to Jiangnan. Address…
