The Shijiadun Site is located in Xingfu Village, Chang’an Town, Haining. It dates back to the Neolithic Age through the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. It was discovered in 1973 during a survey by the provincial cultural relics management committee, which conducted partial excavations of the mound and unearthed over 30 artifacts including primitive celadon bean-shaped vessels, jars, and gui containers. Over the years, collected samples have included stamped pottery shards and chicken-cock comb handles and ox-nose handles made of red sandy pottery.

In August 2009, the Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology conducted a special investigation of the Shijiadun Site. The investigation revealed that the central mound of the site is mostly covered with earthen fill. Judging from the eastern cliff section, its thickness exceeds 4.6 meters. The rammed earth layers near the bottom contain sporadic hard pottery shards from the Warring States period. Combined with the archaeological findings from 1973, it is inferred that the central mound may have been a large burial mound tomb dating to the Warring States period. The area surrounding the central mound of the Shijiadun Site served as a cemetery and living area for the Liangzhu culture, with a surface soil layer about 0.5–1.0 meter thick and a cultural layer approximately 0.6–1.2 meters thick.

The discovery and investigation of the Shijiadun Site provide important data for studying the social structure of the Liangzhu culture, and hold significant historical research value regarding burial systems and structures during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, as well as people’s production and daily life at that time.

In January 2011, it was designated as part of the sixth batch of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units.
