Chongfu Temple in Haining is a cultural relics protection unit of Haining City.
Chongfu Temple in Haining is located at the eastern foothills of Dongshan Mountain in Xias Stone Subdistrict. Dating back to the Qing Dynasty, it is categorized as an ancient architectural structure.
On February 16, 1982, Chongfu Temple in Haining was designated as a cultural relics protection unit of Haining City.
Xias Stone Subdistrict: Located on the Hangjiahu Plain, Xias Stone Subdistrict got its name when “Xiashi” was changed to “Xias Stone” starting from the Tang Dynasty, due to the presence of both eastern and western mountains within its territory. In the sixth year of the Yonghui era of the Song Dynasty (655), Xias Stone Town was established; in the eleventh year of the Kaiyuan era (723), Xias Stone Market was set up; during the Huichang period (841–844), Xias Stone Town was re-established; and in the fourth year of the Jianyan era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1130), Xias Stone Stockade was formed. The area has long enjoyed a rich academic tradition, honest folk customs, and has produced many notable figures. It is home to cultural sites such as the former residences of Xu Zhimo and Zhang Zongxiang, as well as the Qian Juntao Art Research Museum. Xias Stone lanterns are also widely renowned.
