Xiashi Subdistrict: Situated on the Hangjiahu Plain, Xiashi Subdistrict got its name from the presence of two mountains, eastern and western. Originally called Xiashi during the Tang Dynasty, the area was renamed Xiashi. In the sixth year of the Yonghui era of the Song Dynasty (655), Xiashi Town was established; in the eleventh year of the Kaiyuan era (723), Xiashi Market was set up; during the Huichang era (841–844), Xiashi Town was re-established; and in the fourth year of the Jianyan era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1130), Xiashi Stockade was formed. The area has long been known for its strong academic tradition, simple and honest folk customs, and a wealth of notable figures. It boasts cultural sites such as the former residences of Xu Zhimo and Zhang Zongxiang, as well as the Qian Juntao Art Research Museum. Xiashi lanterns are also widely renowned.

The subdistrict borders Yuanhua Town and Baibu Town of Haiyan County to the east, connects to Maqiao Subdistrict to the south, and lies to the west... More detailed information about Xiashi Subdistrict++
