The Qiu Family Residence is a cultural relic protection unit of Haining City.

The Qiu Family Residence is located at No. 32–34 Gongren Road, Xieshi Subdistrict. Dating back to the Qing Dynasty, it is classified as an ancient architectural structure.

On August 11, 2010, the Qiu Family Residence was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Haining City.

Xieshi Subdistrict: Located on the Hangjiahu Plain, the subdistrict is named after two hills—East Hill and West Hill. It was originally called Xiashi but was renamed Xieshi during the Tang Dynasty. In the sixth year of the Yonghui era of the Song Dynasty (655), Xieshi Town was established; in the eleventh year of the Kaiyuan era (723), Xieshi Market was set up; during the Huichang era (841–844), Xieshi Town was reinstated; and in the fourth year of the Jianyan era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1130), Xieshi Stockade was established. The area has long been known for its strong academic tradition, honest folk customs, and a wealth of notable figures. It boasts cultural sites such as the former residences of Xu Zhimo and Zhang Zongxiang, as well as the Qian Juntao Art Research Museum. Xieshi lanterns are also widely renowned.
