Xiangjiadang Tourist Resort
Xiangjiadang Tourist Resort is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
Xiangjiadang, also known as Xiangjia Lake or Xiang Lake, is located in the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta, in the heart of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Hangzhou "Golden Triangle." It lies in Qixing Town, northeastern Jiaxing City, about 7 kilometers from the city center. In 1997, it was designated as a provincial-level tourist resort by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province.
The area boasts flat terrain, expansive waters, a dense network of rivers, and crisscrossing rice fields accompanied by wetlands. Wide and narrow waterways weave through the town, embodying the delicate charm of the Jiangnan water towns while retaining the simple and rustic beauty of the countryside. Morning mists and evening sunsets witness the daily ebb and flow of tides, as the serene and vast Xiang Lake observes the passage of time, quietly witnessing the changing of dynasties along its shores.
The Volume Twelve of the Jiaxing Prefecture Records from the Qing Dynasty’s Guangxu era states, “Xiangjia Lake is nine li northeast of the county. In the past, the Xiang family lived by the lake, hence the name.” Additionally, Zhu Yizun of the Qing Dynasty mentioned in his "Poetry Talks from the Jingzhi Studio" that during the Zhengtong to Tianshun eras of the Ming Dynasty, Huai Yue built Liuzhuang by the shores of Xiang Lake, also known as Huai Family Pavilion.
With this, we can easily imagine the prosperity of Xiangjiadang in those days. This place, fragrant with flowers and clear in waters, often attracted literati and poets in ancient times who lingered here, composing poetry and painting. “The fragrance of flowers intoxicates like fine wine, and the east wind sweeps away the scented dust everywhere.” — this is one of the most fitting metaphors by poet Huai Yue for the delightful scenery of Xiang Lake.
Convenient transportation, comprehensive tourism facilities, and advanced concepts of low-carbon environmental protection have enabled more people to visit Xiangjiadang and witness its charming beauty. Here, you can fully enjoy the fun of water recreation, while agricultural sightseeing brings double delight through learning, experience, and participation. Shedding all urban clamor and complexity, Xiangjiadang invites you to rest and breathe together with nature in its purest form.
