The former factory building of Jiaxing Hardware Tools Factory is located at No. 123, Zhenxi Street, Xinhuang Community, Fengqiao Town, Nanhu District, Jiaxing City. According to former employees, the main structures were built in 1968 and the enterprise was collectively owned. Its history can be traced back to 1954 during the Three Major Transformations period, when several small tin workshops merged to form an ironware production cooperative. In 1958, it was renamed Xinhuang Agricultural Tools Factory and came under the Handicraft Industry Bureau. As production expanded, this factory building was constructed in 1968 and operated under the Jiaxing Second Light Industry Bureau. In the 1980s, it was converted into a metal screw factory, producing non-standardized screws, and employed over 140 workers, making it the largest factory in Xinhuang at the time. In 1997, following restructuring, it became the Jiaxing Hardware Tools Factory. The existing factory buildings cover a total area of 3,232 square meters, including two factory buildings, two warehouses, and one disused water tower. The factory building served as a forging workshop, measuring 29.28 meters in width and 11.1 meters in depth. It has a brick-and-wood structure reinforced internally with steel frames. The exterior features 14 bluish bricks chimneys used for iron smelting—six on the north and south sides each, and one on the east and west sides each. The Jiaxing Hardware Tools Factory reflects the industrial landscape and achievements of Jiaxing in the early years of the People's Republic of China. Today, few factories of this type remain in Jiaxing, and the site holds significant historical and research value. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit of Jiaxing in 2009.
