Japanese Army Gun Tower at Jiaxing Railway Station

The Japanese Army Gun Tower at Jiaxing Railway Station is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiaxing City.

The Japanese Army Gun Tower at Jiaxing Railway Station is located on the east side of the railway police station on Gongyuan Road, Hongqiao Community, Jiefang Subdistrict, Nanhu District, Jiaxing City. It was built in 1937 when the Japanese army occupied Jiaxing. The structure has an octagonal floor plan, with five floors, each side measuring 2.2 meters, a perimeter of 22 meters, and a height of 13 meters, covering an area of approximately 35 square meters. The walls are made of blue bricks laid in staggered, flush courses. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors are equipped with small window-style firing holes all around, while the top floor serves as a watch platform with a pyramidal roof structure. This gun tower is relatively large in scale and well-preserved. It stands as stark evidence of the Japanese army’s suppression of Chinese resistance and control over the railway transportation line during their occupation of Jiaxing, holding significant historical value. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit of Jiaxing in 2000.
