The former residence of Gong Baoquan is located at No. 41 Baoquan Road, Masha Village, Youchegang Town, Xiuzhou District, Jiaxing City, and was the home of Gong Baoquan. Gong Baoquan (1883–1922), originally named Guoyuan, courtesy name Weisheng, also known as Weisun and by the alias Monk Dunian, was a modern bourgeois revolutionary. He was one of the main leaders of the Zhejiang Restoration Society and introduced figures such as Zhang Taiyan and Xu Xilin to join the society. He once served as the director of the Zhejiang Library and as a foreign affairs advisor to the Provincial Government. The residence now consists of two buildings: the main structure is a two-story building with three bays, while the other is a three-bay single-story house. The main building faces east and features a combination of raised-beam and through-tenon construction styles. Its floor is paved with small blue bricks, and it has an eastern corridor. The single-story building faces south and uses a raised-beam frame structure, with a southern corridor as well. In 2009, the government of Youchegang Town funded the restoration of the residence to restore its original appearance and opened it to the public at a later date. The former residence of Gong Baoquan provides physical evidence for the study of Jiaxing’s modern history and holds significant historical and cultural value. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit of Jiaxing in 2009.
